Animals And Me

I volunteer at Sean Casey animal shelter in Fort Hamilton every Sunday with one of my very close friends, and my mom. We usually clean the small animal cages, and after we might walk dogs, or just play with the animals.

I love volunteering and being around animals. Also volunteering makes you feel good, like you’ve really accomplished something. Last week I felt extra good because I bought six cats some toys, and having an extra cat toy I gave it to a lady adopting a cat.

Wow, six cats, that’s as many animals in my house. I have two cats, two guinea pigs, a fish, and a rabbit. Midnight, our 16 year old cat, was the runt and was going to be flushed down the toilet, but then my family said they would take her. I wasn’t born yet, Midnight has been in the family longer than I. Next came my Betta fish Fred that my brother got for me.

I also really wanted a dog, but because I live in apartment in Brooklyn, that was hard. So, as a compromise, I adopted two guinea pigs from Sean Casey animal shelter, Adom and Yak, and I love them very much!

Our latest additions are a second cat, Lou, and a lop rabbit, Stu. I don’t know much about Stu’s background, except that he is around one years old, adaptable, and adorable. About Lou, I know a bit more. He was in a hording house with about 50 other cats, and one of the cats was his mom. Lou is four years old, friendly, adaptable, and very, very clumsy.

I grow up around animals, and they are a very big part of my life. That is why I write this blog. Tomorrow I will be getting a tour of the Humane Society, and I am very excited. I’m so glad to be in an animal loving family because animals are part of what make me who I am today.
