Jamaica Dolphins

Dolphin Cove

For February break, I went to Jamaica for one week with my mom and dad. It was a lot of fun, we stayed on the resort most of the time, but the one day we left, we went to climb a waterfall, and swim with dolphins. Swimming with dophins was definately the highlight of the trip.

I swam with two dolphins, Sky and Calipso, two of the first rescues. All the dolphins at Dolphin Cove are rescues, or children of rescues. Anyway, I swam with two dolphins; they pulled me around, and pushed me out of the water with their noses. These dolphins were so smart and well trained.

I learned a lot about dolphins at Dolphin Cove. Something I find interesting is that dolphins never sleep. They use half their brain during the day, and the other half at night. They were so gentle and beautiful, but they’re endangered.

It bothers me that all animals, not just dolphins, are dieing because of humans. Dolphins mainly die from the trash we humans pollute the water with. So, hanging out with dolphins for a few hours inspired me to adopt one. I adopted my dolphin with The World Wildlife Fund. It’s not like I own a specific dolphin, but I gave money to WWF to help save the dolphins.

If you want to protect an animal, any animal, I recommend going to worldwildlife.org, or greenpeace.org, and I’m sure there are other websites to do that.

So that’s my tropical animal story, if you have one, feel free to write a comment about it.

Aw, this was an incredibly nice post. Taking the time and
actual effort to generate a great article… but what can I say… I hesitate a whole lot and don’t seem to get anything done.
