Fred Is Looking Betta

It’s hard to find a happy animal story these days. Anyway, the story I’m about to tell is about my betta fish and it’s a happy one.

Over the December break, I went upstate to my grandma’s house. My oldest brother David was taking care of my fish, Fred. Fred was upside down for a little bit, and even when he turned himself right side up, he still seemed sick.

David went out and bought medicine for the fish and cleaned the tank every day as part of the treatment. But still, Fred wouldn’t eat. For a whole month he didn’t eat. My mom kept saying, “It may just be his time.” And I would cry. I prayed for a month. As time went on Fred began to eat the food, and spit it back out. This gave me hope. Then one day, about a week and a half ago, Fred just started eating again. I’m really happy about Fred being betta. After all, he is a beautiful purple, blue, and red Siamese fighting fish. (Also known as a betta splenden).

David is the hero because he figured out how to make my fish better and did it!
